Sustainability Design Course

on Thu, 03/08/2012 - 22:24

Think Tank is developing a course in Sustainability Design for students aged 9-12 and 13-17. The class ideally would have two-three main teachers; a math teacher and an engineering teacher who could commit themselves to two 15-week semesters of classes (30 week total - Sept-May), with classes meeting twice a week. A technology teacher who could commit themselves to half or almost the same amount of time would also be superb. This course would run Sept.

Summer Think Tank Projects and Inspirations - Go Kart!

on Thu, 06/30/2011 - 22:06

The very thoughtful and inspired Mr. Ben Secino (a Think Tank student) came to me for mechanical advise about a go kart model he had built out of legos at the end of one of our Eco-debate classes a few months ago. He was determined, after our many discussions in class about finding new alternatives to fossil fuel-based energy, to tackle the concept of a green vehicle for his summer project. His engineering brain was clearly whirring.

After a couple good conversations, many questions and a few trips to Wikipedia, we decided to take on the challenge of building a "green" go kart.
