Each short story will be independent of one another but will maintain the same theme:

At some point in time on Earth a human becomes affected by a strange condition where the individual's very words become hypnotic self-suggestion. They discover that any phrase they utter aloud has to be carried out, no matter the severity. Example: A man says, “I will hike Mt Everest!”. He grabs some supplies and heads off, as if he truly has no other choice. Because his body is not really prepared for the feat, he ends up dying part-way up the mountain. A sad fate, I know... but this is merely an example.

Though other Earthen realities(dimensions) aren't aware of it, several dimensions share the anomaly. Your story may take place in any time period and at any given stage of the anomaly's development. For instance, your tale could be about the very first person affected, or it could take place after hundreds of thousands have been. Have fun exploring this concept and please share your ideas and progress with the class, if you wish.

Symptoms and Discovered Facts:

  • Condition is genetic, proving to be hereditary, and may be spread by other unknown means(may mutate into virus, etc.)

  • Strictly self-suggestive; an affected person's words controls only their own actions.

  • Condition is strictly aural(related to hearing). How the deaf or hearing impaired are affected is currently unknown.

  • The impulse to carry out a said suggestion is ultimately overwhelming and the affected will stop at nothing to see the task through.

  • Severity of condition may vary from person to person; One may act abruptly while another may carry out their suggestion at a different pace.
